Flash and iPhones & iPads
Currently Apple’s iPhone and iPad software (iOS4) does not come with a Flash Player. This has been a deliberate decision by Apple to block their competition Adobe, the current maker of the Flash software, from the mobile devices market. Adobe has been very upset to Apple about Apple’s lack of willingness to integrate Flash player to its devices. Whether ignoring Flash is a smart idea by Apple or not, the reality is that today a growing number of users view Web content via iPhones and iPads. New developing AJAX and HTML5 web technologies have replaced the immediate need for the use of Flash for most purposes. For instance, images can be animated in many different ways with AJAX and video can be displayed directly in the browser, without using the Flash plugin, using HTML5. Today’s modern web sites utilize a suite of modern Web technologies based on the vistors’ user behavior, media, visual impact, and requirements for interactivity. Flash is currently widely used for playing video.
